Stone Care

Natural stone is amongst the most durable materials for floor and wall coverings it also boasts the lowest abrasion values.

All natural stone is slightly porous to different degrees.  To protect stone an impregnator should be applied this is similar to a sealer but it doesn’t create a film on top of the stone it sits within the stones pores.

Finally to dispel what you might have read or heard about sealing artificial or fake stone these are in actual fact more porous than natural stone and will need frequent applications of stain inhibitors, sealers, resins and polishes.

Cleaning Stone
General cleaning regimes should include sweeping the stone and then mopping with stone soap mixed with warm water.  Avoid using bleach, acidic or abrasive cleaning fluids, stones react to chemicals in different ways.

Does stone damage easily?
The majority of stone needs to be cut with a diamond tipped blade so to cause serious damage something extraordinary needs to happen.  Where stone is used for flooring over many years it will develop its own patina much like jewellery does.
